Welcome to the Cygnus Ensemble
Cygnus, featuring plucked strings, bowed strings and woodwinds in pairs, is an ensemble that has its precedent in the Elizabethan “broken consort”. Cygnus is a group of versatile chamber musicians, all of whom are among the most highly respected practitioners of their instruments. Since its beginnings in 1985, Cygnus has created an new body of chamber music by both established and emerging composers, works that offer a striking timbral contrast to the now ubiquitous Pierrot ensemble formation.
